The best party in town

The students from our Academy in Darwen had two fantastic days before the end of term. Every year group took part in different activities ranging from Eco Day, Starchaser rocket launching, Design and run an airline, Army survival including climbing wall, archery and ‘staying safe’ with Police, RAF, Fire service. Brendan Loughran, our Principal, summed the two days up saying “the staff and students have had a great time and lived up to the ideal that school should be the best party in town.”
It was a busy last week of term with Michael Gove MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families visiting the Academy. He met with students and staff and saw our specialism of Entrepreneurship in action and how it is becoming embedded in the daily life of the school.
Our first Year 12 had the fortune to visit Amsterdam in the knowledge that A levels are another year a away but with GCSEs round the corner in May it was more Maths and English for Y11 and the opportunity for study schools over the Easter break. Happy studying!
