With the appointment of the principal designate of Falmer Academy - Philomena Hogg – last week and the decision concerning the design of the building being made soon it is an exciting time for all those involved in the academy.

It is also an exciting time for another project the foundation is funding which has close links with Falmer Academy, called Reach Out.  Last week I went to the Partner Meeting in Croydon to discuss the project developments and more excitingly, what this means in practice; for the meeting marked the beginning of the prototype phase.  In their discovery phase Participle identified the 'good adolescence', which is shaped around each young person creating their own strong developmental narrative; then in the idea generation phase they developed the concept of experience brokering within a community to allow young people to start and boost their developmental narrative; and now in the prototyping phase these ideas are being put into practice, both in Croydon and Falmer.

There is a lot of work to do before the start up phase, but judging by Participle's concepts and the thoughts of the other partners there should be some spectacular results, with Falmer Academy at the centre!
