Joe's A Winner!

The Foundation is thrilled to learn that a graduate of the My Life Is My Business scheme, Joe McInerney, has been named Outstanding Achiever of the Year at the annual ‘Young ‘Uns’ award, organised by Lancashire Business View and the University of Central Lancashire.

Joe was recognised for his personal journey over the last 18 months, going from being described by his youth worker as being ‘one the of the most disengaged young people I have ever seen’ to pitching business ideas to entrepreneurs and meeting royalty. He was described as an inspiration and positive role model to other young people.

He is now developing his own business idea recycling gym equipment from the Darwen Creates business centre at the Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.

Max Larcombe, project manager for Darwen Creates, said everyone was very proud of Joe and what he had achieved.
