06/02/2011
The Aldridge Foundation has welcomed the proposal by Brighton and Hove City Council to open a new Academy in Portslade, Brighton, in September 2011, which will include a brand new sixth form. This will replace the existing Portslade Community College.
Rod Aldridge, who is a former pupil of the college, said: “We have huge ambitions for Portslade, which will give all students the opportunity to fulfil their potential. We want to build on the work already underway to dramatically improve the standards of education at Portslade.”
The Foundation has already confirmed that the current college head, Stuart McLaughlin, will be appointed the Principal of the new Academy.
Director of The Aldridge Foundation, Honor Wilson Fletcher added: “We are committed to working with Stuart, all the staff and Governors at Portslade and the Council to deliver something that all the community can be proud.”
