Furniture Charity Wins Foundation Sponsored Social Enterprise Award

Date: July 10th 2015

Furniture Now! won the Aldridge Foundation sponsored Social Enterprise Award at the Lewes District Business Awards last night.

As sponsor of the new University Technical College UTC@harbourside in the Lewes District, the Foundation has supported the awards for the last two years. Chief Executive Honor Wilson-Fletcher presented the award to Furniture Now!, a leading local community waste, re-use and training organisation.

Honor said: “Furniture Now! provides training for young people, recycles furniture, retails furniture and helps people set up homes cheaply. It is careful not to be ‘competitive’ where other charities’ provision already exists and, having been in operation for 20+ years, continues to innovate in its offer depending on changing need locally.”

“They have taken on apprentices and those young people become more motivated and made significant academic progress through their work with Furniture Now! They are a GENUINE social enterprise providing a brilliant community service.”
