Aspire 2 B
Aspire 2 B is a fresh approach to information, advice and guidance (IAG) within secondary and post 16 education. IAG is compulsory within all schools, yet is often ineffective and out of date. A2B will draw together elements of best practice from current service providers, along with new innovative thinking, within one package. A2B is currently under development and will be piloted in The Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.
Aspire 2 B will broaden students horizons, challenge stereotypes, increase educational involvement and success and allow all students to make more informed and confident decisions regarding their future. It will draw heavily on business links, providing students with relevant experience and knowledge of the work place, and the ‘soft skills’ required to succeed.
A2B will meet all twelve of the DfE’s quality standards for young people’s information, advice and guidance, and build upon the latest research. A strong emphasis will be placed on building aspirations and developing a positive and constructive view of the work place, before introducing students to the broad spectrum of career paths that lie before them. A2B shall be maintain a high profile throughout the academic year, working with students across the curriculum and outside it from year seven, up until they leave the academy, and will continue to provide advice and guidance beyond formal education.
