From 6 July, our World of Work Week will help young people interact with industry professionals and access a host of online career resources, in the absence of traditional summer term, hands-on work experience.

Through a series of live and pre-recorded talks, ‘Zoominars’, panel Q&As and ‘day in the life’ profiles, students will be given the chance to explore a huge range of careers – and career paths – as well as get advice from experts on practical, positive steps they can take now, towards planning for their future. They will have the opportunity to develop communication and employability skills through specialist resources, to understand more about specific sectors and the roles within them, and to connect with mentors and potential role models.

Shona Nichols, CEO of the Aldridge Foundation says:

It’s up to us all to ensure that young people have all the opportunities we can give them during this difficult time. Thanks to the support of our partners, local businesses and the industry professionals who have taken part so far, we’re aiming to open students’ eyes to the wide range of careers available to them – and the possible routes they could take to get there. World of Work Week will hopefully go a long way towards building confidence to take action and start making their dreams for the future become a reality.

We are dedicating a section of our website (World of Work) to all these career resources, creating a hub which is available to all young people, extending the student community we currently support. If you think you or your business can help, please contact georgina.butler@aldridgefoundation.com
