A social entrepreneur with over 40 years experience in the public, private and third sectors, Sir Rod Aldridge founded the Aldridge Foundation to further the work of his charitable trust, which he established in 2004. As the entrepreneurial founder of the Capita Group in 1984 until his retirement in 2006, Rod led the company to become the market leader in the provision of support and professional services to the government and private sector in the UK. Today, the Capita Group is a FTSE 100 company. Prior to Capita Sir Rod worked in local government for ten years.
In addition to his work at the Aldridge Foundation Sir Rod is also Chairman of The Lowry, the theatre and arts venue in Salford, Chairman of Acorn Care and Education, a Non-Executive Director of Equiniti, and a past Chair of vInspired- the charity which aims to inspire and engage over one million new youth volunteers.
He is also a patron of the Prince’s Trust and was recently invited to join the Prince of Wales’ Charities Council. Sir Rod was knighted in the New Year Honours List for 2012 for his services to young people.
