The summer school will bring together students from across the Aldridge schools with an idea for a business or social enterprise or a strong interest in entrepreneurship. Students will be guided through aspects of business start-up through a range of interactive workshops delivered by the team at the Institute and external experts. On the final day, they will pitch their ideas to a panel of entrepreneurs and business professionals.

Staying within the University’s student accommodation, the Aldridge students attending the Summer School will experience a valuable taste of what university life is like. Teachers accompanying the students will have the opportunity to benefit from a unique professional development experience running alongside the Summer School.

The Institute’s Professor Gups Jagpal said: “We are delighted to confirm that Smith & Williamson have come on board as partners for the programme. Smith & Williamson is a leading, independently owned, financial and professional services group with extensive experience working with start-ups and growing businesses. They will provide our students with an overview of entrepreneurial finance including sources of funding for business ideas and the basic principles of profit and loss. They will join the previously announced NatWest as partners for the programme.”
